Dr. Véronique Bouchet is the Senior Director for Science and Innovation at the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) where she oversees the three research Programmes (Weather, Atmospheric Watch and the co-sponsored Climate programme) and WMO Education and Training division. Prior to May 2025, Dr. Bouchet was the Director General of the Canadian Centre for Meteorological and Environmental Prediction of the Meteorological Service of Canada (MSC). With a PhD in atmospheric modelling applied to air quality, Dr. Bouchet was responsible, early in her career, for the development of numerical prediction application programs, including air quality forecasting and regulatory decision support programs. Internationally, Dr Bouchet served most recently on the WMO Research Board, including as Chair of the WMO Task team on Exascale, Data Handling and AI (2020-22), Chair of the WMO working group on the Future Data Infrastructure (2023-25) and the chair of the Task Team on AI for Numerical Weather Prediction (2024-25).
