Cathelijne Stoof is a pyrogeography researcher at Wageningen University in the Netherlands, working on integrated fire management based on four axes of diversity: cross-geography, cross-risk, linking science and practice, and embracing social diversity. Working closely with knowledge holders in practice, her work focuses on Europe, with a core focus on temperate Europe. Dr. Stoof represents The Netherlands to the EU Expert Group of Forest Fires and one of the lead authors of the recent report ‘Changing Wildfires - Policy Options for a Fire-literate and Fire-adapted Europe’, in her role as co-chair of the wildfires working group of the European Academies Science Advisory Council (EASAC, 2025).
