Prof. Dr. Reinhold Ewald (68), Cologne, married, three grown up children

Received a PhD in Radioastronomy, and a minor degree in Human Physiology (1986) worked for DLR in infrared space projects became German astronaut in 1990 as finalist of the selection in 1987 trained as research cosmonaut in Star City, Russia (1990-1992 and 1995-1997) launched on Soyuz TM 25 on Feb, 10, 1997 to the Russian space station MIR worked 18 days onboard MIR on a complex life science research programme and material science experiments, landed Mar 02, 1997 on Soyuz TM 24 became member of ESA European Astronaut Corps in 1999 headed ESA’s Columbus Mission Operations at COL-CC (2004-2011) became Professor of Astronautics and Space Stations at University of Stuttgart (2015-2024) retired from ESA (2018) and university (2024)
