Eoin Moran is the Director of Met Éireann, Ireland’s national meteorological service. Appointed in 2016, he carries out this role at Assistant Secretary level, with responsibility for leading and strategically managing the organisation to deliver high-quality weather and climate services that support public safety and national resilience. Eoin has been part of Met Éireann’s senior leadership team since 2007.

In his role, Eoin works closely with national and international partners in weather and climate science. He sits on the Management Board of the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage and is a member of Ireland’s Climate Change Advisory Council. He also represents Ireland in major international meteorological organisations, including the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), EUMETSAT (Europe’s weather satellite agency), and the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF). He currently serves as Vice-President of the WMO and Chair of the EUMETSAT Council.

Eoin has previously chaired key European scientific committees and contributed to expert groups focused on advancing weather forecasting and climate science. His work helps connect Ireland to global efforts in understanding and responding to climate and environmental challenges.
