CityTRAQ: TRaffic model for better Air Quality policies in cities
Supported by the European Commission under the LIFE Programme, Project: 101074741 — LIFE21-GIE-BE-LIFE CityTRAQ — LIFE-2021-SAP-ENV
Within the LIFE CityTRAQ project the Flanders Environment Agency (VMM, Belgium) and The National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM, The Netherlands) cooperate with the Belgian cities of Antwerp, Ghent and Bruges on the one hand and with the Croatian Meteorological and Hydrological Service (DHMZ, Croatia) on the other hand.
The project aims to:
Improve the assessment capacity of local and regional authorities through (1) additional, highly local monitoring (air quality & traffic) and (2) tools combining all relevant data sources for identifying air quality challenges.
Improve the planning capacity of local and regional authorities through tools and processes identifying challenges and facilitating development of solutions and recommendations in policy making.
Demonstrate applicability of additional air quality and traffic data, models and tools in diverse city use cases.
Involve citizens and schools in building the monitoring networks to raise awareness on air quality and build support base for policy making processes.
Enable replicability and transferability of the project outcomes to other EU regions.
